Isabelle LAFARGUE

Depuis toujours, Isabelle est fascinée par  les couleurs, le dessin et la peinture. Autodidacte, elle aime  explorer différentes formes d’expression, de supports et de sujets. Isabelle se passionnent pour la peinture à l’huile qui lui permet de jouer avec les textures et lui procure un sentiment de liberté. Son second médium de prédilection est la peinture sur porcelaine qu’elle a étudié à Limoges pour devenir Atelier d’Art de France en 2010. La peinture sur porcelaine est pour elle une forme d’expression délicate et méditative. Aujourd’hui Isabelle Lafargue s’exprime à travers ces deux médiums qu’elle combine parfois sur une même oeuvre.

Ses oeuvres sont exposées dans des galeries d’Art au Canada et aux Etats-Unis, dans des collections privées à travers le monde ainsi que dans deux Musées de son île natale.

Isabelle se soucie des détails. La couleur tient  une place prépondérante dans ses créations, cela peut être une explosion de couleurs vives, de contrastes, de sentiments,  ou au contraire quelque chose de plus doux, d’élégant à la recherche de l’harmonie. L’artiste aime travailler les métaux précieux comme l’or ou le platine qui ajoutent une touche de noblesse et même de magie aux oeuvres parfois fantaisistes de l’Artiste. 

Ses créations commencent par un rêve, parfois éveillé, qui continue de prendre vie sur le support et avec le spectateur.

She spent her childhood at the seaside, close to nature, and playing with her brothers and sisters. She still remembers the joy of discovering her first box of coloured pencils brought by the tooth fairy under her pillow at her grandmother's house. The artist grew up in a family of creative people on an island where the lighting is magical and the colors are vibrant.

Isabelle has always been fascinated by colors, drawing, and painting. Self-taught, she enjoys exploring different forms of expression, mediums, and subjects. Isabelle is passionate about oil painting which allows her to play with textures and gives her a feeling of freedom. Her second favorite medium is porcelain painting, which she studied in Limoges to become Atelier d'Art de France in 2010. Porcelain painting is for her a delicate and meditative form of expression. Today Isabelle Lafargue expresses herself through these two mediums that she sometimes combines in some of her pieces.

Her works are in public and private collections all over the world, including two marine paintings, at museums "Arche" and "Archipelitude" on her native island.

You can find her work in Art Galleries in Canada, Montreal, New Brunswick (Fredericton, St-Jean, and Moncton), Chicago, and in La Baule (France).

Isabelle cares about the details. Color holds a prominent place in her creations, it can be an explosion of bright colors, contrasts, feelings, or on the contrary something softer, and elegant in search of harmony. The artist likes to work with precious metals such as gold or platinum which add a touch of nobility and even magic to her whimsical pieces.

Her creations begin with a dream, sometimes awake, which continues to come to life on the medium and with the viewer. 

Isabelle is also a member of the International Porcelain Artist and Teachers (IPAT) and The Porcelain Artist of Canada Association (PAC). She is a grant recipient of ArtsNB and of Tourism, Heritage and Culture-Government of New-Brunswick.

In May 2016, she received the third price at the PAC exhibition held in Montreal for her creation “Souffle du Dragon”. In August, the artist participated at the IPAT competition in Las Vegas and she won the silver ribbon for her creation “Hijo de la Luna” and the bronze ribbon for the vase “Margouillat Kréol”.

Isabelle Lafargue also gives classes to the youngest by going for example to nearby schools to share her art. The artist said she “believe that through artistic education and expression, young people can change the world”
