Résilience

Déracinée, des racines, s'enraciner et prendre son envol.

La résilience est un chemin. Il m’aura fallu plusieurs années, de 2022 à 2025, pour achever cette toile, qui, tout comme moi, a traversé plusieurs étapes. Initialement, elle symbolisait le déracinement, l'éloignement et la perte de repères, suite à mon déménagement en Europe en 2021. Comme un besoin de reconnection à la terre, j'ai travaillé le fond avec des ocres naturelles, me sentant telle une souche d’arbre à moitié arrachée de ses racines. Mais où se trouvent mes racines ? Dans le plus profond de la terre, je les ai d'abord esquissées à l'encre de Chine. Peu à peu, elles ont pris texture grâce à l’application de la peinture à l’huile. Elles ont fini par retrouver vie, se colorant, vibrant.

En 2024, je suis retournée en Amérique du Nord. En 2025, la toile, tout comme moi, incarne un retour à l'espoir et à la vie, par l’apparition de papillons et de points d’éclat lumineux.

La résilience est un chemin d’apprentissage, une voie qui nous mène à la capacité de renaître et de nous enraciner à nouveau.

Resilience

Uprooted, from roots, to take root and take flight.

Resilience is a journey. It took me several years, from 2022 to 2025, to complete this painting, which, like me, went through multiple stages. Initially, it symbolized uprooting, distance, and the loss of bearings following my move to Europe in 2021. Feeling the need to reconnect with the earth, I worked the background with natural ochres, feeling like a tree stump half torn from its roots. But where are my roots? Deep within the earth, I first traced them with Chinese ink. Gradually, they gained texture through the use of oil paints. They eventually came back to life, colored, and vibrant.

In 2024, I returned to North America. By 2025, the painting, like me, symbolizes a return to hope and life, with butterflies appearing and bursts of light shining through.

Resilience is a journey of learning, a path that leads to the ability to be reborn and take root once more.
